1. Ran up Mt. Ellen via the Jerusalem Trail on Wednesday.
2. Bouldered at Bolton West Thursday.
3. Hiked up General Stark Mountain via Jerusalem Trail with Dave on Saturday.
4. Biked in Mobb Hill with Dave on Sunday and got CHOWED by mosquitoes (forgot bug spray).
5. INTERVIEW with a publications company for copyediting job today.
6. After interview, ran up Burnt Mountain and swam in Hedgehog Brook. Found an antique, olden day, phone for FREE on the side of the road (plan to give it to mom for her collection).
What would you like to hear about first? So many things to say . . . prioritize, girl! Okay, here's the plan, I'll post photos of Mt. Ellen for you (and you can create your own story); tell you that our hike up Gen. Stark Mtn. was a great relief and time to mentally slow down; give you a few "deets" (details) about the interview; and give you even more details about my most recent run up Burnt Rock (Sorry, no photos this time!).
First things first, photos of Mt. Ellen:
Well a bunch of "server errors" have set this post back a notch and I would really like to spend some time this evening drawing; unfortunately, I only got to the "post photos of Mt. Ellen" part.
In short, the interview went great and I am scheduled for the final two interviews which, if I do well, will seal the deal!
My run up Burnt Rock Mountain was exellent--tough, straight-up trails, large boulders to climb over, extensive views of Vermont--and I even swam in the brook at the end of the run (rinsed off all that sweat and grime!).
On my drive home from the run, I passed a grey, wooden sign with "old bottles" written in fading white paint. I thought of my sister, Val, remembering that she likes bottles of various sizes and shapes. I might have to pick her up a couple of neat pieces of glass next time I pass by.
The "old bottles" sign triggered the need to jot down details of my journey home--things I passed on along the way. My list, written while driving, reads:
-grey, wooden sign with "Old Bottles 2.4 miles"
-cardboard "FREE" sign alongside the highway next to an aquarium with a bag of small rocks inside; a broken laundry basket, cracked mirror, and leather boots
-middle-aged man with potbelly on riding mower wearing a red cap and a sleeveless t-shirt
-white church with crumpled steeple and blue dormers
-fruit stand with sign: FRESH VERY FRESH VEGGIES
And I wrote a few words about Burnt Rock:
-blueberries
-exposed rock
-hot
Now, after a long day, it's time for bed (so much for drawing!).

Bottles? Yes please ...
What kind of phone ... a desk dial one? I've been looking for one for ages! Where's the photo of that?! :-)

Here's my list from yesterday:
Four huge turkey buzzards pecking on side of road. Yikes - they're monsters. Freaky looking birds shaped like large black bowling balls.
Cute black kitty darts in front of my vehicle as I turn from Hwy 62 to Hwy 227. Kitty, where are you going? Amazingly, kitty scales the steep rocky mountain side.
Large buzzard tries to pick up his prey from center of hwy and fly out of the way of my SUV barreling down on him. Flap, flap, flap... up he goes, then nope, back down. OUT OF THE WAY, BUZZARD! Too much weight, he can't get altitude. He drops his prey smack between my tires and I pass over it. I think I am as traumatized as him.
Another day in the life of a city girl gone country.
